Medical Screening
Mandatory pre-treatment evaluation including cardiac assessment, blood work, and full health history review for all candidates.
Why Screening is Non-Negotiable
Ibogaine is a powerful substance with real cardiac risks. It prolongs the cardiac QT interval, which in rare cases can lead to serious arrhythmias. This risk is dramatically reduced - but not eliminated - with proper screening and monitoring.
We screen every candidate. There are no exceptions.
What the Screening Includes
Cardiac evaluation:
- 12-lead ECG (electrocardiogram)
- Review of cardiac history and family history
- Cardiologist clearance required for any abnormal findings
Blood work:
- Complete blood count (CBC)
- Comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP)
- Liver function tests
- Thyroid panel
Medication review:
- Full review of all current medications and supplements
- Identification of drugs requiring taper before treatment
- Drug interaction screening
Health history:
- Psychiatric history (contraindicated conditions identified)
- Substance use history
- Surgical history
If You Do Not Pass Screening
We will tell you clearly and explain why. We will also work with you to explore what alternatives exist - other treatment modalities, referrals to appropriate specialists, or a plan to address the contraindication if possible.
Honesty about candidacy is part of our care.
